According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the skinniest person in the world is Cathie Jung. She did not achieve this title through dieting though, but rather through the constant use of corsets. In fact, Cathie is pretty normal as far as eating goes. Although she becomes satisfied very quickly after eating, she enjoys eating out at restaurants on a regular basis.
Cathie is in her seventies and is married to Bob, an orthopedic surgeon, and they have three children, two sons and a daughter. Cathie and Bob attended Tufts University where they first met – Bob earning an undergraduate degree and attending medical school, and Cathie studying biology. They fell in love and were married in 1959. They enjoy nothing better than taking fishing trips in their boat, “The Bobcat”.
Cathie and Bob have always had a passion for dressing up in Victorian formal wear. In Victorian times it was fashionable to have the tiniest waist possible, and this is where Cathie’s journey to have the smallest waist in the world began, which eventually earned her the title of the skinniest person in the world.
Cathie was wearing a corset on the day she and Bob were married and, except for the times when she was pregnant, and when she showers, the corset has remained part of her daily attire. The amazing thing is that Cathie has suffered no ill effects from wearing the corset virtually twenty-four hours per day. On the contrary – according to Bob, it has improved her spinal support. Her only concerns are dry skin and keeping the corset clean.
Cathie’s corsets are also somewhat restricting when she is driving, and she also finds that she can only sit down comfortably on certain chairs. She also finds that dressing and undressing takes up a lot of her time. Another reason why Cathie cannot and will not stop wearing a corset is because she does not possess any clothing that can be worn without a corset.
Cathie’s waist was twenty-eight inches when she began her amazing journey to have the smallest waist in the world. She started off wearing a corset of twenty-five inches – once she was comfortable wearing this size, she then went on to wearing one that was two inches smaller. She continued doing this over the years, and gradually trained her waist to the astonishing size of fifteen inches!
She owns more than one hundred corsets made from different materials. Some are cotton brocades, some are of beautiful Chinese silk, and she has some of leather as well. She wears a camisole under the corset and uses plenty of powder to prevent her skin becoming irritated from perspiration.
Cathie and Bob try to attend the Les Gracieuses Modernes ball each year that is attended by a community of people who, like Cathie and Bob, enjoy the elegance and femininity of tiny-waisted ladies.
Cathie Jung, the skinniest person in the world, is not stopping there though. Although her fifteen-inch waist is absolutely astounding, she and Bob have a goal. Cathie will carry on wearing her corsets every day, lowering the sizes as she has been doing, and wants to eventually have a waist of no less than eleven inches!
I wonder if the insurance company approves her behavior at conclusion of the life insurance policy if something goes wrong with her health.
